The Other Coast - July 2011

July 3, 2011

Jim and Tina invited us to use their pool while they were out of town. On our way to their house, the boys feel asleep, so we decided to keep driving to see where we would end up. We ended up at Pine Island Park on the Gulf Coast. Yesterday we were on the East Coast and today we are on the West.

A little piece of paradise!

After visiting the park we stopped at this little BBQ joint because the Greek restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. Oh well, fried green tomatoes = a fun Southern experience!

Playing in the pool!

Green...

Blue...

Purple!

We decided not to fight the 4th of July crowds and enjoyed the neighbors fireworks from the comfort of our home...er, the bed of the truck!

Hooray for the red, white and blue!

Daytona - July 2011

We headed to Daytona for the day hoping to get into the Coke 400 race. We left early so that we could spend some time on the beach first.

Ashton enjoying a snack under our beach tent.

We parked in the free parking and boarded a school bus to be shuttled to the track. The boys loved it! Who knew a school bus ride would be the high light of the day? Here we are across from the speedway. Once we got to the ticket booth and realized that the cheapest tickets were almost $100 each, we decided that perhaps the Daytona 500 will be a better race to attend with a discounted ticket purchased in advance. We still had fun watching the jets fly over and listening to the cars come around turn 4.

Carson taking the fire truck for a spin.

The real Hudson Hornet!!!!!

The boys attempting to make those on the other side of the fence feel sorry for them.

We'll be back in February Daytona!
